Project Overview
RepublicZ is a digital platform concept developed during my Google UX Certificate, based on the principles of the sharing economy. It was designed to connect university students to affordable shared housing options. The project was created with the goal of making the search for shared rooms safe, convenient, and socially inclusive.
The Challenge
University students moving to new cities often face difficulties in finding affordable, safe, and lifestyle-compatible housing. Existing options frequently lack reliable information and do not offer platforms that effectively connect students with shared housing providers.
The Solution
RepublicZ is a digital platform that connects students with shared housing options such as student residences and coliving rooms. Using artificial intelligence and user-centered design, the platform delivers an intuitive, secure, and personalized experience, making it easier for students to find accommodations that match their profiles and specific needs.
UX Research
Through user-centered research, relevant data analysis on student housing in Brazil, competitor benchmarking, persona creation, empathy mapping, and journey flows, I uncovered three key findings that defined the core of the RepublicZ app:

Designing the Solution
After conducting UX research, I decided to combine a student accommodation search platform with a social-network-like environment—featuring exclusive communities and chats—so that students from the same university or neighborhood could connect and organize shared housing searches together. To support this idea, I analyzed competitors' strengths and weaknesses, as well as the project’s technical and market feasibility.

Lack of Student Focus: Existing platforms are not specialized in addressing students' unique housing needs.
No Compatibility Matching: They don’t offer matching systems that take into account user profiles, habits, or preferences.
Complex Rental Processes: Bureaucracy and lack of transparency create a frustrating user experience.

RepublicZ emerges as an innovative solution to the challenges faced by university students in finding shared housing. By combining cutting-edge technology with a deep understanding of its target audience, the platform delivers a unique experience fostering meaningful connections and simplifying students' academic journey.
Next Goal: Expanding to a Mobile App
With the growing demand for solutions like RepublicZ, the next step is to develop a mobile app version of the platform. The goal is to retain all existing features from the website, while offering a mobile-optimized interface that prioritizes usability, social interaction, and seamless student connections in the search for shared accommodation.
